Gillian, her husband John, and their children Rebecca, Pamela and Malcolm came to Moat Farm from Gwent in 1992.
Gill greatly enjoys the outdoor life and is often to be found working alongside John on the farm.

On her decision to open the stitching barn she said: "I've always been interested in sewing and stitching - I got my first City and Guilds certificate in dressmaking when I was 20. Since coming to the Moat I've picked up on the interest again and attended
City and Guilds Courses in patchwork and quilting at West Hope College, Craven Arms with Linda Kemshall - and I have also re-done the Dressmaking qualification that I did originally."

Gill has plenty of experience having run classes at Newtown Library and at her home before jointly founding Maldwyn Quilters with Linda Jobling in 2002.

Gill said she hopes the new business will complement their work on the farm.
She said: "I've always felt that an additional activity was required to
supplement the farm and hopefully this is it. It is a Craft that I enjoy and I've always been keen on passing it on and sharing the skills with others.
I'm opening the barn to gain extra workshop space and because it isn't always easy to get a range of materials in this area. I'm holding stocks of Moda fabrics and my students will have access to fabrics, threads, notions and wadding right here on the farm."
